The Red Border is a concept for a dystopian 2D animated feature film targeted at adults.
The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of the 1900s, where we follow a travelling theatre show that brings the last bit of hope and humanity to a world filled with radioactive monsters and despair. Hernando, a devoted puppeteer and the theatre’s leader, embarks on a treacherous journey with his ill daughter Pilar and his loyal best friend Carlos. Together, they seek a rumored sanctuary that could save Hernando’s daughter, but the road is fraught with danger.

For the art direction of this project we took inspiration from the puppets of Red Nose Studio, where we tried to apply the facial structure of their 3D puppets into our 2D characters.

This project was developed during my Minor in Development for Visual Storytelling at Sint Joost. I worked together with Anouk Gijzen, Iris de Graaf, Isabel Liebrand and Diego Scheepers. I only worked on the pre-production of this project.
